Timing Belt Squeek

I had a squeeky timing belt last year and it annoyed the heck out of me. Everytime I cold started the thing sounded like gulleys mating, until the engine got warm, then the sound would subside. Anyway last summer I had a new timing belt put on which solved the problem, that is until the thing started squeeking about two months ago and it is as loud as it ever was. I tried spraying that antisqueek stuff on but that only works until it dries I found out. Does anyone know how to permenantly fix this problem? Is it too loose? too tight? I havent got a clue! I think you may be a little confused. I think you are talking about the serpintine belt and not a timing belt. For one a timing belt would have cogs on it being a positive drive so there would be no squeak because there is no slip......to a point. Also , you said you spray stuff on the belt and if this was in fact a timing belt , all of the timing belts i have seen have been coverd. If it is the serpintine belt you are talking about , simply take a bar of regular soap and rub it on the outside as well as the inside of the belt while the vehicle is running being careful to not get our fingers caught anywhere. I have been doing this for years and it works well , in fact i just had to do it today because the serpintine belt started squeaking today.

you might check the tentioner as well. a lot of the time a squeaky belt may be a little loose.
