my heat is broken and im really cold

so yeah my heat is busted- the upper vents dont work at all, but heat does come out of the floor, and my heat sounds like a dying hyiena- the plastic clip the holds the temp controll line is busted, but i can get it hot by manually pushing the metal wire into the black hose thats supposed to be attached to the passenger side dash near the floor. anyway how do i get the vents working? and how do i get it to stop being so loud?! its friggen louder than my stereo. please help me its very cold in massachussetts.

Is your fan motor smoked? Is it making the sound of a Yeti, as seen on TV? I can think of two different probs, you may have both: Fan motor and vacuum leak.

If the fan is shot, well, you get no air. If your vacuum or vac switch is bad, it won't change the flow of air...
