98 sunfire DRL problem

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum here, but hoping someone can help me with my problem.

I have a 1998 sunfire GT and the DRL indicator has been flashing on and off randomly while driving.... this is causing the lights to flicker... so I try to turn on the regular headlights ..and they won't stay on...

The dash lights and taillights are on but the head lamps stay off... and the DRL indicator on the dash stays on. but no lights at all from the headlamps.

Is there a way to fix this? or to at least disabble the DRL so they just will stay off and I can use my regular headlights instead till I can afford to get it fixed?

check your drl relay its a little black box in with your fuses should say drl on it,i have a prob lem also ,i dont have regular lights at all,but have drl and brights

In the sunfires if a bulb burns out it can cause your DRL indicator to flash and not work, Cheapest thing to check.

Checked the bulbs.. no problems there...

took out the DRL relay... and still had the same problems... so stuck it back in.

Took it to the garge to have it looked at... and they couldn't find anything wrong because it was working fine while I was there... so I took it back home.. the headlights worked all the way..

went out a few hours later... 9pm.... pitch black and no headlights... DRL just stay on and if I take out the DRL relay then I have no headlights at all. :banghead:

Then today it's been working fine....:banghead: it's just so fustrating.. either work or stop so I can get it fixed....
