S2000 with SAS body kit and Mugen hood paint questions

If I spray Tamiya pearl white by itself with a few coats, should the white pearl come out good? Or should I spray a gloss white under the pearl? Suggestions, comments anyone. I didnt' see this in the FAQ.

Also, can enamels and acrilycs be mixed if you add one when another is dry?

The only gloss white that I have right now is Model Master enamel will that have a bad reaction to Tamiya pearl white?

I would wait untill you get a tamiya white. But, you should paint white 1st. Tamiya pearl is very translucent.

Agreed...I just painted a pearl white model using Tamiya white primer as a base coat and Tamiya pearl white over it. Even Tamiya pearl clear should be clearcoated...though it doesn't have much pearl to it whatsoever...I resorted to using some of my old LMG pearl powders to punch up the pearl effect.

I wish Tamiya white primer covered better...it was yellow plastic and it wasn't covering well at all, I resorted to spraying Tamiya gray primer over it and then shooting the white primer.

Don't use enamel under the Tamiya Pearl White Lacquer.
Brush strokes will show through too.
I'd wait until I could do it right.

Applying Tamiya spray over Testors/Model Master spray is risky...others say it will wrinkle the paint underneath. I tried it once on a test body, and no problem at all...fresh Tamiya clear over freshly applied Testors/Model Master. But that may have been a fluke. Tamiya sprays are pretty mild lacquers. You might try the combination on a test body to see if it will work, and then be very careful to apply the Tamiya pearl white in light coats.

Don't hand paint a model....you will not be happy with the results! You spend too much time w/the body and the resin mods to then do a paint job worthy of an 8 year old. :icon16: '

You're better off waiting until you have the right paint before making too many potential mistakes.
