:banghead: I think my bird had a stroke,

I got my bird up to 105 mph for a good 5 mins and the engine was revving at 4k. When I came to a stop my oil pressure dropped to zero. I pull over and checked the oil and it was bone dry. Just the week before it was full and was planning to do a oil change this weekend.
I was about two mile from Pepboys and I drove it there at low speed, not revving the engine past 1k. I can now hear the valve tapping for a good min an it stop (the tapping).
So I finally got to Pepboys and check the oil again and there was at least a quart of oil showing on the dip stick now. So I purchased and pour four quart of oil into engine and she worked find, BUT when I revved the engine in park I have a lower engine knock. When I drive it I have no knocking at all. The knocking only happens in park when revved past 2k
When I got ready to go to work this morning, the knocking is not there any longer when I rev it in park.
Could this be a oil pump or a tranny pump problem, because the engine sounds fine now, but the tranny is a little sluggish.
Thanks

At high engine rpms like you state the oil pump can effectively pump all the oil out of the pan because the oil passages cannot drain the oil back into the pan quick enough. It just puddles on top of the heads.

sounds familiar. if it comes back or the oil pressure drops in drive(500-800rpm) it may be the bearings(crank). i had the same problem, but it got progressivley worse, now i've got a complete overhaul to do when the weather breaks. good luck

i had a similar problem after doing a couple of drags... bout a month ago, my engine would start knocking whenever it went over 2400 rpms.. not to mention a total loss off power.. then one day i had to drive into town (bout 3 miles there an back) at low speeds.. pulled out of the gas station an she stalled... finally got her started an she makes this HORRID sound... so now i have a 95' V-8 Paperweight in my yard cause i dont know whats wrong with it.... any ideas on that one guys?

bdub41778 is right it is the connecting rod bearing. I lost it about 6 months ago and the same EXACT thing happened to mine. You're only 2 options are to rebuild the engine or to get a new one. You might be able to get lucky like I did and find one in a junk yard with low mileage pretty cheap.
