i was out playing in the snow, the next morning my trooper would not start.it was around 0 to 5 degrees out so i thought maybe the fuel line or pump was froze.i sprayed starting fluid in to try and get to fire.it would fire up for about 5seconds.after a few more tries of starting it would crank but wasn't getting fire to the distribitor or coil.any ideas would be appreciated.

I just had the same problem with my 95 trooper s. My wife was driving fine on a very wet and cold day here in canada and all of a sudden, she died(not the wife the trooper). I thought it may be a frozen gas line so I added the methol hydrate that most canadians carry with them in their car and no go. It seemed to start and die right away with no real idle, but you could sort of keep it going in a real rough way by pumping the pedel. So I suspected the fuel filter. I changed it out and she fired right up for about 30 seconds and then she died again, after a lot of sputtering. I started it again and it lasted even shorter. Now it is back to the not even firing, but turning over. I suspect bad gas or a bunch of water in the gas. So I am going to add some fresh gas as the tank was at 1/4(a real nono here in canada in the winter). Let me know if you got your problem fixed and I will let you know how I make out. ALso there were no engine lights except check engine, as ususal until it fires.
Thanks
Thanks

Well the saga continues, I have changed out the fuel pump relay, map sensor box and added new gas, with more methyle hydrate and some lucas gas stabilzer. Still will not start, turns over but wont fire.
I am not sure what to think, could be a fuel or maybe an electrical issue.
Next is the fuel pump: a couple of questions, it son top of the gas tank, do I need ot drop the tank to change it. ALso can you hear it running at all when you turn the key, as mine seems to be quiet.
Also where is the fuel regulator? Can't find it and I wonder if it may be the issue.
ELectrical, It has the funny coil electric ignition thing bolted to the intake manifold. What else could be wrong?
Any one have any suggestions? WHere would one try and gauge the fuel pressure?
Thanks

Well once again I am driving my Trooper. Turned out to be a coroded wire at the fuel pump!
So I would suggest checking the wires at the pump and make sure they arenet broken or coroded.

Wife drove the Trooper on a 300mi trip, then parked it. 10min later it wouldnt start. had spark, and would fire up w/ starting fluid put into the throttle body/breather, then die. I would try that just to make sure, rule out the fuel system if it still wont start. if it does, check for 12V at the fuel pump where they route to the top of the fuel tank. On mine, I had no voltage, so replaced the relay, had voltage but still no start. turned out both the pump and the relay went out at the same time.
you said no voltage "to the coil". I'd double check that. you should have MAJOR spark off the coil wire. just put it real close to the valve cover/body or similiar. if you get just a weak spark or none at all, have it tested. to check the coil wire itsself you can swap it out with a plug wire. good luck

Im currently having a similiar problem. I havebeen with this car since I was 5 and for the first time that I can remember it wont start.
I went to replace the fuel filter but that didnt change anything. So now its on to the fuel pump and fuel regulator. Does anyone know where the reuglator is? I cant seem to find it, and the manual doesnt give me any insight. Also, the fuel pump that I bought doesnt seem to match the one I have, even though its for the same year and model.
Any help guys?

Could be one of many things. Check your starter relay and your fuseable links first. Those are the least expensive items to replace.

Maybe this will help. You should tell us which engine you have, perhaps we can get more specific info.
The fuel pressure regulator for V6 is on right hand side, on top of engine....fuel line goes to it before throttle body/injectors.
