One before you do anything, get those head gaskets checked out... those are known for blowing out.
1... Gears out back 3:73's or 4:10's
2 Tranny cooler
3 4.2L F-150 long block swap
4 Shift kit
5 UD pulleys
6 CAM

i dont really have to worry about that since i just fixed my blown head gasket last week.
Would a shift kit like this work?

well u have the old 3.8, the difference between that and the newer one is the intake system, and theres a difference of 40 hp. a new intake and new intake manifold is what they did.

Yes it will work, just make sure you get a tranny cooler and get a chip too.

I was thinking about putting in cool air intake, should i?
I will look into tranny cooler. What kind of chip should i get. Ive seen people with this chip that gives you + 20 horse power, and it cost like 10 bucks.

Sorry CHIP was too generic of a term. I mean something like a Hypertech programmer. Something that will allow you to adjust the shift points untill you come up with a setting that works well with your car. Plus it will allow you to adjust the fuel/air ratio and speedo settings.

i just installed a B&M ShiftPlus kit on my cavalier automatic, and its amazing the difference. The shifts are faster and stronger. Was very simple too, all i had to do was tap 2 wires on the transmission. Takes maybe 5 mins to install. Mine cost 40 bucks shipped.

A $20 intake isn't going to add anywhere near 10hp. $300 intakes only add like 4hp.

a $20 universal intake adds 8-10 hp

Grow up kid. No $20 anything is going to add 8-10hp unless you somehow manage to get a whole bunch of used parts for $20.

just to clarify the intake isnt really $20, and you probably couldnt find one for that anyway. they are more expensive but you can get them for that kind of price on ebay.

Theres no such thing as some magical chip that adds 20hp for $10. You have to learn about something called 'market hype'. Not to mention just flat out lies. Turn the ads section in any car magazine and read the add "SUPERCHARGE ANY CAR FOR $69.99! 35+ HP!" If that was true..you'd see that mod listed in everyones signature. Because wow..$70 for 35hp would be fucking insane. $2/1hp. Mm.

Am I to understand that some of you actually believe that $20 Intakes and $20 chips will each add 20hp??
LMAO I'm not the type to make fun, I've been there(well sort of, I didn't understand much about cars two years ago, but hell even then I knew a $20 chip was NOT going to add 20hp! Jeez!!) but anyway, how you possibly take an ad like this seriously?:

Hi I'm Stacy, thanks for looking at my auction :) . I've been into cars since I was a little girl. Guys have always liked talking to me about them, which is really fun. Sooooo I was looking for another way to take advantage of my love for the automobile. Then I found Speed Seeker. Here's how. My boyfriend (ex boyfriend LOL) Jake liked to race. One day he got spanked by this cute guy Chad, who had a slow looking Integra. I mean, it had a skinny stock exhaust pipe and stuff. It was a real sleeper. After that, Jake had to have a Speed Seeker for his Camaro (he was SO spoiled). I helped him install it, and we both couldn't believe how easy it was to hook up. I can do some stuff with cars, but I don't want to mess with soldering! We didn't have to do any of that with Speed Seeker. It just plugs right in and BOOM, more horsepower. Long story short, I knew that these would be good to sell :) .

Don't those $20 chips just retard your timing? Also, the Hypertech is a very general burn, and you could get a more specific burn for less money. I believe it is SCT that does the best???

LOL it's so sad, it's funny! I should write back "If I buy your chip, do I get to spank you? and would you help me installing it (preferably in the back seat? ;)"
The saddest part is:
I can do some stuff with cars, but I don't want to mess with soldering!
Even by just opening the Hood I get my hands full of grease usually, so "she" doesn't want to mess with soldering because it's too "icky" or something?

Usually they Advance Ignition Timing and lean out the Fuel/Air Mixture. Dangerous things to do without trial and error. The $20 "Chip" in 99.9% of all Ebay scams is a Resistor that's connected to the air temperature sensor, tricking the EEC into thinking the air coming in is colder, and therefore advancing the Timing. Usually the computer will make up for that slight advantage in other ways (richening the fuel mixture, etc) so the 2hp you had gained are lost anyway.
