i have a 96 contour, 4 cyl, 2.0 and i need to change the spark plugs and wires. i had a diagnostic and it said cyl 1 misfire. i was just wondering how complicated this is and if it was possible to do myself without totally screwing the car. i'm pretty technically inclined, but i've never done anything myself. also i need to change the oxygen sensor and wondered about that difficulty too.

If you can use a socket set, you should be ok. IIRC, the Zetec is pretty straight forward as far as changing plugs. Just make sure you use the correct plugs(if it calls for double platinum, use double platinum), make sure you gap the plugs properly and use plenty of boot grease, as well as a little anti-seize around the threads of the plug.

For the O2 sensor, depending on where it is located on the 2.0, you may need to raise the car. If you are having doubts, pick up a Haynes manual.

Your o2 sensor is usually located on top of your exaust manifold, middle engine, toward the firewall, hope it helps.

it would be ezer to use an O2 socket. (it has a slit cut in it so the wire fits and u dont f-up the wire, and so u dont have to use a wrench.) the O2 thats before the (Cat) its just below the exhost manifold heat shield. the one after the (Cat) is under the car just affter the (Cat). i believe the one before the (Cat) is $60 and the one affter is about $50.
