PaulD,
yeah that's the thing. the amp is made in finland. and it's distro'ed through europe. but with the british pound and the euro so high, if i were to buy it here i would almost be paying twice as much as if i were to buy it in the states with dollars.
so if anyone can let me know please do, i am very interested in trying one of these amps out, thanks

you wanna buy a finish amp in the US and ship it to Italy ? Have you ever heard of import duties .... the amp has got to be more expensive here.

Yeah I've heard of import tax/duties, but i don't have to pay them. i am tax exempt here in italy. but the problem is that they sell the amps here but cost way to much even if i were to buy it tax free. that's why i want to find a place that sells them in the states. buy it online and still get it with no tax, even though i still have to pay for shipping. i will still save money cause the exchange rate for the euro to the dollar is to high right now.

you must be in the military over there, like Aviano AB or whatever. Yea, it sux when the dollar is down - makes it REAL hard to live over there. And yea, if that's true, you only pay the shipping to the APO .... the govt picks up the rest. Not a bad deal if you ask me. But why these amps ? Are they REALLY that freakin awesome ?

PaulD & TheSilentChamber,
actually aviano is about 2 hours away from where i'm at. i stay in vicenza. if you remember the beginning of the war with iraq and there was the paratroopers that jumped into northern iraq, they were from vicenza. anyhow i wouldn't say that they are awesome are stupendous, i recently seen a pair of these amps running down at .5 ohm's each and they were blasting those subs with clean power. it's a class d, so even running a .5 ohm's it didn't even run hot. i'm looking for an amp that can run down at .5ohms stable for everyday use not just at shows.
do you guys know any amps that can run at .5 ohm's stable for everyday use? and push over 1000watts at 1 ohm?
for me i need to see it to believe it rather than just read the manufac's specs and believe what they write. i seen this amp run at .5 ohms and it was stable that's why i was looking for one in the states. but if you guys can point me to another amp i may change my mind on this one.

I wouldn't run a nine.1 at .5 ohms daily.... for burps MAYBE but its pushing it. check out some amps from mmats www.mmatsproaudio.com they have some .5 ohm stable amps.

Well, the 1500d that I had(think I have another on its way) will run @.5 but not recomended. It will however run all day long @1ohm AND have over 1200RMS. Heck the newer version they toned down a bit will run like that... http://directed.com/audio/amps/default.asp You should try to find something from the states or where ever you are stationed just for customer help. One of the nice things about DEI is they have a warranty replace setup on new equipment vs. warranty repair. I hated sending stuff back to JL Audio. It would take months to get them back and usually lasted only for a little time.
One thing to look for is if they are APS compliant. If not, the numbers may be over-inflated. Also, make sure you have to run @ 1/2 ohm. If you don't, you'll save big $$$. It is very hard to get a Class d amp to safely run that low. They become unstable. McIntosh use to make some awesome sub amps that could go to 1/4 ohm but they were tube style amps and needed an enormous amount of space and a lot of heat was generated.

Yeah well you'll have to pick the D3000.05 amp which can be pricey. Again, I would question if he will actually be going to .5 ohm. Are the subs 2ohm DVC?

Your talking about CEA certified right? What good brand is........ read this............. full credit of this text goes tot he much respected comapny, linear power at www.linearpower.com.....
About a month ago Linear Power products placed a statement on our website against the industry adoption of the CEA2006 standard. (You can read our statment below this new statement.)
Ok. We have heard rumors that some out there think the Linear Power products stand against the CEA2006 standard is just "sour grapes". (We have received just one response, ourselves, and it was basically a request to introduce our new line of amps sooner.)
Hey, we would like to see a standard of some kind, too. But, as we have stated, we want a standard that pushes all of us in this industry to build a better product - both for benefit of our customers, and For the Love of Music.
So, for those of you out there that might disagree with us, let us give you a challenge.
Take the best amplifier you can find out there with the CEA2006 stamp of approval on it, and A/B it with and older Linear Power product amplifier, say, an old Series IQ amplifier (that's about 15 years old). Then, you tell us if the CEA standard will lead to a better built amplifier, or just a better way to market the same ol' stuff.
Fair, enough ? We look forward to hearing about your results.
For those of you out there in the Car Audio world that have given some thought to the new CEA2006 standard for the rating of car audio amplifiers we feel that we need to weigh in on this issue.
After careful technical considerations we have come to our conclusion:
BUNK.
It seems to us that the standard audio values have been left unchanged (like 4 ohm), while values such as Damping factor and THD have been modified to the point where they become irrelevant. We believe this is soley to allow foreign made amplifiers (which can be bought for $15.00 to $60.00 and sold for $80.00 to $160.00, or more) to seem to be as well designed and built as AMERICAN MADE amplifiers.
Therefore, you won't see LINEAR POWER products following this "new" standard. When we reach the point where we need to set a 1% THD value for our amplifiers then there will be no reason for us to continue in this industry.
Why ? Since the WORST model we have EVER produced will give you our FULL 4 ohm rated power output at 0.05% THD (way back in the early '80's) why would we want to rate out amplifiers at any greater value ?
We hope that the powers that be in this industry will, at least, establish a standard that can equal - if not beat - what we used to make "once upon a time".
Okay, we will cut some slack here: We won't ask for a standard that asks for OUR current standard of less than 0.03% THD at full rated 4 ohm power out for Car Audio power amplifiers. We understand there are many "American" Car Audio amplifier companies out there that aren't quite ready for THAT standard yet. And, hey, they need to make a quick buck, still. Sad... but true.
Do you disagree ? Do you agree ? Do you care ?
If you have an opinion - one way or another - please email us by clicking on our email link listed below. We would LOVE to hear from you.
Oh, and if you don't know why we are saying all this, then please, read our A Brief History of Car Audio.
Thank you.

brings up some very good points..
but, IMO the CEA standards may not bring up the standard of amps in this country.. but at least they let you know whether or not an amp will give its rated power. for example.. if a noob doesnt know good brands apart from bad ones, it is nice to see the CEA seal and knwo hell be getting the wattage hes paying for. basically what im trying to get at is at least its helping kinda weed out BS like sony. its promoting people to learn that amps dont all give the power they claim.
granted this may not make any difference to people who know a ton about car audio, but if they know that much then they prolly wont be buying a brand that comes with the CEA seal, because its pretty much only mainstream amps that coem with it.
if someone knows who linear power is, odds are they dont need a stupid seal of approval to know that its a good amp. but like i said before, if your a newb then it makes buying a mainstream amp a little easier

B-stang, that's about the worst comeback I've seen you have. The standard was not derrived to "make better product" but to give a base to where amps can be measured. Being very familiar with Linear Power(and a fan), I think it distasteful for them to state what they did. Us audiophiles know there is no way you can say Sony, Audiobahn, and Linear Power amps are really good. Those amps just don't fit in the same line. The standard was set so those low end amps CAN be compliant too. Consumers have been misled for many years running from companies say stuff like the amp puts out things like "1000 watts total output" then nothing else. So, some poor newb buys that 1000 watt amp and wonders why his system sucks power, sounds terrible, and ruins speakers. Then they really get upset when they see some "little" Linear Power amp rated at 250 watts pounding away.

What I'm sayin is all of the best brands do not use the CEA thing. You probably don't have any experience with MMATS and you come on here saying their power is not certified and compare them to Boss. MMATS s up there with US Amps Cadence and the like I don't see any of them or ANY of the top brands using CEA because of the reasons stated above....... THD doesn't matter and some other shit....... Plus they don't need to have a stamp of approval for some company who is probably paid off by shitty brands like fosgate pioneer ect....

Well, most likely if he's looking for a .5ohm load, like stated before he can work with a 2ohm load as well. There are MANY amps that give rated power @2ohms, and also about the CEA shit...it's cool to see...but all you need to look for it RMS
Even shitty legacy junk has rms hidden inside their manuals. They'll say "1800 watt amp" on the outside, and as long as you look in the manual where it says "180 rms x2" it's all cool! peace
