3000GT vs. Supra

First a little background info, im a student at a&m corpus christi (gulf coast texas.)

Well theres a guy on campus whos goin to rush our fraternity,(beta theta pie :smokin: ) so hes talkin to all of us and were askin him questions and what not, he seems allright THEN.

HIM: I could take any car on campus with my supra :icon16: (my friends immediatley look at me)

ME: Oh yea, Not bad is it TT.

Him: NO

Me: well have you got any mods?

Him: intake and exhaust, why you boys think you got somethin that can take me

Me: as a matter a fact yea, how bout we line em up

Him: what you got?

ME: 3000GT :smokin:

Him: pshhh whatever :rolleyes:

Me: Well, your so sure how bout we put 50 on it. :iceslolan

HIM: its your money you want to lose it i'll take it.

We head off the island, and on to ocean drive, stop and we line em up, my frat brother waves the start, i get the jump from the beginning 1st gear 43mph im just a few feet ahead, shift to second, 50 , 60 then 70 mph im now 1 car ahead shift to third. 80mph im pulling slowly 1 1/2 car lead, 95 i can see his headlights in my rearview redline third at 103 im now 2cars up, i decide thats enough and shut down. We take the turnaround and head back to campus.

Him: :eek: wow i didnt know 3000GT'S were that fast.

ME: Good race :rolleyes:, maybe next time fish. :nono: PAY UP

HIM: :bricks1:

I ran my car in the 1/4 a while back using an acutrack,i ran a range of 14.288 - 14.495, dont trust the acutrack though it can be inaccurate. and no the guy just assumed he would win.

Lol, our neighboring house is Beta, so we have get along pretty well. I know what you mean about cocky fish though, we have one who has a 97 V6 Stang, stock except for dual straight pipes. Good kill on the Supra.

That's pretty damned good for an N/A 3KGT, you must be proud!

Also, since it seems there are some fratboys in this forum, I have a question: WTF is a fish? When 3KGT said "maybe next time fish", I thought he meant "maybe next time, fish" as in "this racing thing isn't working out for you, try fishing"...lol I dunno I'm so sheltered, it's sad :icon16:

I dont know that those times are completely acurate, acutracks are known to be off by 1 or more tenths, however i do know i am well into the 14's .

Its always nice to see a 3000GT beat a supra, everyone thinks they're in a totally differnet class of cars :rolleyes:.

MKIV (i think) it was a 95-96 somethin like that

An NA JZA80 has 222HP RWD (The one you raced was stock I think?)... you have an NA 3000GT SL FWD with some mods... about how much HP do you have?

I beat a lightly modded SL with my NA Z32 not too long ago... I would love to race you!

Well i figure intake, exhaust and pulleys should give, in the neighborhood of 15-20 hp, the clutch and flywheel dont really matter hp wise.

I live no-where by Corpus Christi... I live in So.Cal.. But that would be a hell of a race. My Z has more or less 240HP right now too. I have a few more mods like a better exhaust system and headers coming soon though. Maybe some nitrous. It seems 222HP was a fad among the NA Z, 3000GT, and Supra. Weird...

His HP is consistent with his mods... BTW I wouldn't underestimate an NA Supra... you can make them as fast as any NA Z or 3000GT with the right mods. I've seen them up in the low 13's. Now if you wanna get crazy... I've seen a monster NA Z32 running 9's.

Yeah... if you have the money you can get into stroking. I thought about it... but for $10K+ I would rather swap in a VG30DETT in my Zed. Have you ever thought about throwing a turbo engine in your car? I heard some whacko swapped in a VR4 engine minus the drivetrain. That would be fun... a 300HP FWD car!

Yea ive thought about the 6g72TT swap but 320 hp in a front wheel drive car, i wouldnt stop spinning......ever lol plus ide rather just have the vr4, however a single turboo is a possibility i would consider it can be done for about 2500 installed.

Oh... I'm keeping the Z still. Just looking for a beater... still. As soon as I get the beater I'm gonna park the Z and do extensive maintanence/over-hauling/modding... maybe a TT engine! Can you say Twin Turbo 2+2? Dead sexy!
