yet another annoying question EG-6 VS. RPS13

Allright, here it goes:

LUIS
97 Civic EX with CAI. Driver is overconfident, but doesnt drive like a maniac, shifts well but not quick, slips gears when shifting quick. Opinion on racing: "No point, i have a vtec and CAI, i already won." No respect for Nissans (at least thats what it looks like). Has recently beat: nobody.

JOHNNY
92 240SX. K&N air filter and exhaust. (Also running on syntec oil if it matters). Driver likes to race, sometimes drives like a maniac but knows the consequences. Would rather drift. Shifts quickly without slipping, more experience in driving compared to LUIS. Not that confident if he has to post this question in a forum, but knows his car is a little faster than others. Opinion: "I dont know, its a vtec engine. i'll still race him anyways just for the hec of it. But it think i can beat him." Respects Honda's VTEC ENGINE. Has recently beat: Nissan Maxima.

Allright, what are your guys conclusions, i got my fire suit ready so if anyone wants to flame go ahead. If u guys dont want to cooperate, oh well, its just a question. Whenever i get my friend pissed off enough to race me i'll tell u the results.

the newer hatch civic after that is a EK9
and the newest hatch civic is EP3

wait the civic has a cold air intake....we all know civic cold air intakes add 25 hp so the 240 will lose..whahahhahahaahahha wow i just hope the good ol 240 wins.

wow that's a joke... the 240 would eat it alive... ... i had a 95 240 and would eat gsr's ... just cuz the driver is a noob at shifting ... i think the 240 has the advantage and only a skilled driver could beat it with the civic and that's considering the driver in the 240 isn't a great driver ... i'd like to see this race due to the fact that the civic driver will eat his words ... gaurenteed

I'm guessing the Civic driver will lose. I guess it kinda depends on exactly how bad he shifts, but go out and race and then post the results!

fine then D-Bo, heres your write up.

a friend of mine has a new 1.8L turbo Jetta. Full exhaust and some other computer blah blah under the hood. so anyways, he was all on my nuts about racing him, and how my eclipse was no match.
well, finally i got fed up and ran him.
he took me off the line 1) he has traction control, i sure as hell don't, so i didn't catch grip until about 3200 (launched at 2k). 2) he has a triptronic shifter, therefore he didnt have to worry about balancing the clutch and etc.
so anyways, he took me off the line, but not by much, by time a shifted into 2nd, the tires chirped as usual and i was on his front doors, 3rd gear is really long on my car so he pulled a bit, still he never really smoked me, i got beat by maybe half a jetta, lol.
my mods? CAI, 93 octane gas and smoked taillights, lol. FYI, non-turbo eclipses have 140hp, sad i know. but man, i'll sure as hell dust his ass (and have) in some highway racing, he hesitates alot to make lane changes, but thats another story....

anyways, moral of the story, the better driver always wins, unless the cars are extremely unmatched in power.

So how much power does the gas add? Is it worth the extra 30% price? And an automatic? People are pussies, like D-Bo said....

Traction control = loss of power
tiptronic = loss of power + slow shifts

Moral of the story your trying to compare your driving skills to his... but it's really like racing an auto. unless he's fixed up his computer to make his shifts quicker which wouldn't be too good for that tranny. congrats you beat an auto

that's not flamming... i was just stating the obvious, c i took on a 97 gsr with intake, full exhaust, and cams. That was Vs my 95 240sx w/ an injen intake. and yes it was a 5 spd gsr... he got eaten. another one civic HB but i'm pretty sure he did alot more to his engine... it sounded intimidating... i beat that guy by a pube. i asked him for another race... he passed on that one ;)

i was just saying, he had about 60, if not more horses than me, plus turbo, and traction control. but i guess weight issues were holding him back, but still, he had mods, i don't. and about the gas, i only put 93 in it to make sure runs clean, cuz i do push it sort of hard every once ina while. gas here sucks cock n balls, our highest octane gas we can get at gas stations is the lowest offered at stations in the UK. whats up with that?
but yea, i usually keep all my racing stories to myself and let others tell them for me, i think thats how it should go.

You know, an EK with a B18c5 can give a silvia a hard time. I know my cousin has a black CTR with a turbo b18c5 in it and its pretty quick. Once Vtec kicks in around 5 it pulls like crazy.

Yeah, the VTEC can really kick your ass sometimes!

Hello everyone im back, good thing i had my flame suit on. Anyways, i finally got him to race, and guess what, I beat him!!!!! Outta two runs i kicked his but the first, and the second wasnt that bad, but he still watns to race again, he still thinks he can beat me!! I told him that im ready whenever he is. For all you guys that think we're stupid for illegal street racing, we raced in ramona, california, very desolate place, on our friends ranch. (Actually its his dad's but you get the idea.) I actually want to race with horses now. Sounds fun. HEHEHE

wow, thats horrible...i never put other people's life on the line, like i mean i'll never take an extreme risk that i'm not sure i can pull off. i do however try to keep the racing to like after midnight or on roads where people rarely travel. but sometimes, i can't do either, so usually i don't even race. but yea, the day i kill someone else in a crash will be the day i stop breaking speed limits altogether.

hoping to hit 14s with just the shift kit and mmi...total of less than 100 dollars in mods :)...I've seen stock specs hit high 14s with no mods...so I know it's possible.

You really had to ask who would win in this race?
It's something like 155hp and 160tq for the 240 and 127hp and 107tq for the Civic. Of course you beat him, I would hope you beat him. There's a big difference between the SOHC vtec engines and DOHC vtec engines.

There's also a big difference between 240's and Civics

i only lost to him by a fender but hes way the hell faster shifter than me and for sure faster than a 97 civic

to make things even you need a swap as well... and to make it fair for the poor civic you're gonna decrease your displacement to the 2.0 liter SR and smoke his sorry ass!

SR with the T25 will smoke any honda (not the nsx, S2k too close to call)

Sr with the T28 BB will lag till 3800RPM then smoke the hell out of Hondas (yes the S2k too!, not the nsx dough!)
