I am looking at building a custom fiberglass sub box/amp rack but what is behind the rear seats? That "trunk" are is raised so high what is underneath it? Gas tank? What would I be damaging if I bolted this box/rack to the floor right in the middle? Thanks

hmm, i think that you wont be doing too much damage if you drilled into the metal there, but u might wnana double check, i never seen anybody with a sub and box in a cam, but i bet it would kick ass cuz most people have their boxes in the trunk, in the camaro, the bass would bounce up then reflect on the glass to the front of the car, thats gonna PWN!!

i thought you wanted to like cut off a big piece of that metal thing in the trunk and literally put the box in there, i'd like that so somone would tell me what the hell its there for

Uhh, if you make it right, the amp and subs and MDF will be heavy enough u wont have to bolt it down :) or you can make it fit so nicely its snug and u wont have to worry about it either.

Its going to be fiberglass and I was just wondering how hard it will be to bolt down. we are custom making it to fit the Camaro's trunk but I wanted a little extra security of having it bolted down.

Good question, I wasn't too sure so my subs are on top of that and my amp is bolted down sorta on the bottom left, i might be able to get a picture ina few days. Its sorta where the stock CD changer would bo, i think...

the gas tank is directly beneath right where you want to drill and bolt. i would look for a different method...

yeah i deffinatley wouldnt bolt anything to that hump your gas tank is less than an inch beneath it u could do what im doin if your building a box for your amps and cut a piece of wood at an angle and have it come off the back of the box and go a lil way behind the seats so it dosent move freely

Yeah, it's not too hard. The last one we did we foiled the whole rear and glassed away. I just used enough HDF(not MDF) to rough the shapes and give areas to mount the subs and amps to. When everything was done, we used straps under the box/enclosure that went under the plastic sides of the car's trim and bolted them there. Yeah, DO NOT BOLT DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE.

Unfortunately I do not have pics of the Firehawk I did but here's some pics of one I am doing for the demo Jeep.

i got a sub box with 2 10's pointed so the subs face the windshield wit hthe amp mounted on a slanted back. and to tell u the truth i think it dampers the sound a little bit cuz its so open the sound doesnt hit anything till the windshields idk if that would make a big deal..

If I put a subbox in the camaro I'm going to point them at the hatch but I'm afraid it will be too rattly so I haven't bothered with anything stereo wise first. When I do I will just go all out, Deck, Tweeters, Mids, Subs, Amps, Sound Deadener, new wiring all around, capacitors.

Yep, you need to either build a different box or have it face the rear of the car to sound good.

The sub box will sit down in the t-top pit of your trunk, and depending on how big/many amps you run they'll mount atop the hump or in the well underneath the sub box - that pick you've got just shows they've levelled the sub portion with the humb, and those amps aren't drilled into the body they're likely just fixed to that fitted bottom piece.

An power cells or fuse relays can easily be mounted inside the rear passenger quarter (takes 30 seconds to get into). Something like this:

my box sits a bit higher than the hump so the amp can fit underneath, otherwise you'd totally sink the box and level it with the hump...

hes right about making a lip to go over the edge of teh tank behind the seat. i screwed my amp onto a peice of sheet metal and stuck it under teh carpet. i made a bracket that hangs over the edge and it is really snugg. that fiberglass setup you put a picture of is tight. for the future, how do you go about making fiberglass??

i screwed my cap and amp on to the top of the hump, but i put a piece of plywood underneath the carpet before i started drillin. worked out for me...
