Last week i had noticed that when i was driving my 92 cav it started to choke and spudder while i was parked when i engaged the automatic trany to drive wham stall...then i restarted it choke choke choke set to drive wham stall.. so i started it again but it would stall in park and won idle on its own. i have to manually set my gas pedal so i can give it enough gas so it wont stall after about 10min of this it will finally idle again on its own and i can drive it.i hooked up the codes to it and it came back diagnostic code 12 so theres nothing wrong there and the hoses are good you would notice a leak any suggestions cause it happend to me tonight again 3 times in 1 week ouch HELP!! :banghead:

Is this failry cold weather? If so sounds like the IAC valve is Dirty and needs to be disciplined, err i mean cleaned!

its actually 0-8C so its actually fairly warm outside its kind of uncharacteristic of this car. the iac valve is connected to the throttle body right ? i just dont want to be messing around with it cause im sure id lose the gasket lol. is it expensive for a mechanic to take out?

Ooo! A second gen question!

Hell no! Don't pay a mechanic, it's easy. Is yours Multi-port FI or carb? On MPFI it sits right on the back, in the center, top of the TB. Two little star (hex) screws hold it in. take it out, clean it, and make sure to clean the hole it goes in, get a rag or peice of paper and stick it in there and get that dirt out. Cake!

And a carb wouldn't have one. But it will be an inj model SFI!
