Leaky Oil Cooler Lines '98

I have a '98 with an oil leak from the oil cooler lines. The leak appears to be right where the line transitions from ridged to flexible. My question is are there couplings that are servicable at this transition? Or do you have to replace the whole line? Thanks

The connections are not servicable by design. The hoses are put over the tubes and then a (large) hydraulic press machine is used to crimp the outer metal piece around the hose.
I have heard the lines are fairly expensive to buy, and a royal pain to replace. Some people on another Astro/Safari board have had success using a dremel tool to cut off the crimped part and using hose clamps instead. I have the same problem on my 94 AWD, and that was the approach I planned to take. I intended to obtain some aviation or racing style hose clamps, though, rather than the cheap ones with the slotted band.

I've replaced few oil cooler lines. none of them were hard. if I remember right on my 97 astro both lines tied together at the oil filter. I picked up the hose for about 70.00 from gm. motormite makes one also.

Been there with my 97. I carefully cut the crimped fittings with a hacksaw and discarded old rubber hoses. Got replacement hoses for 15$ at a hose specialty shop (specify they need be oil/fuel resistant, low pressure (300psi max rating)). Since the end of the metal pipes only have small rings to retain the hoses on, I cleaned the ends with solvent and used silicone adhesive before clamping it on with double clamps at each location. It's been a year now and no leaks!
May seems like a hasle, but it's big saving if you compare it with the cost of genuine Chevy parts.
Good luck
