rpm question

I have just bought a 95 Metro, I took it on the highway and I noticed that at 100k the rpm is running at about 3600 and at 120k it's at 42 to 4300. I'm just wondering if this is normal for this car or is it not shifting properly?

Thx

Sounds right for an auto. My 93 3 cyl was turning 4200 @ 70 mph. I had a tach guage cluster in it so I know it was accurate.

Yes, it's very correct. The auto is only a 3 speed, so it has no over-drive. Don't worry about the RPM's. As long as you change the oil regularly, it can take these RPM's all day long with no problems.

Thx for the replies, I once had a standard 1.3 litre firefly that was way better on gas then this one but if that's normal I won't worry about it. My concern was that I was missing the top gear and that is why the rpms where so high.
