Hey guys, I am having problems with the electrical system in a 88' 3.0 v6 a/t 4runner I recently bought. The a/t temp, brake, and charge lights on the dash all flash at the same time...more like a flicker at times. @ days ago I noticed that the engine would drop in rpm's at the same time the lights would come on and off on the dash. The headlights would dim as well...So I had the charging system tested and it was putting out 13.2v and 44amps. I think it was supposed to be 60amps. Does anyone think this could cause such changes in electrical system while running. How about grounds. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here is a link to a previous thread that describes a similar problem.
88 4Runner V6, I think the alternator is going out. (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=200626)
Good luck

speaking of solved headaches...my runner left me stranded today..alternator fried. I put a new one in it, and so far all of the glitches have gone away. The best part is that my a/t overdrive problem seems to have gone as well. I had put a new 'yota' thermostat in in a few weeks ago, but it was still unable to run warm enough on the highway to allow the o/d to stay engaged. I guess it was running rich and cool due to lack of good spark. Anywell all is good so far...thanks again.
