DO NOT!! touch my gear selector.

My first time crusin' in my new truck :evillol: .
Im with my mom. We pull up into the church parking lot and i parked next to my friend who was sitting there listening to his stereo. my mom is waiting for my dad to come pick he up so i get out, i have the gear selector in 1st and the emergency brake engaged 1/2 of the way. For GOD knows what reason my mom moves the gear selecor into neutral with out my knowing. i step outand take my foot off of the brake. the truck begins to roll down the hill. im like HOLY SHIT!!! i jump in and slam the brakes. i look and the gear selector was in neutral. i specifically remeber placeing it in 1st. WTF??? this is the 2nd time today. before we where at the dentist and though not on a hill she put it in neutral. i am used to placing it in neutral to start it up so i can jsut let go of the clutch and finish doing w/e adjustments needed. so me not being completely familure with this tranny yet just simply moves the selector back and it landed in 2nd. i crank and release the clutch. STALL!!! this pisses me off supremely. my mom laughs and says "oops."
Ooops my arse.
No one touches my gear selector when they are sitting in the passenger seat, i mean NO ONE. this is what pisses me off the most about cars, passengers trying to be the driver by actually messing with things.

Well after i get in i crank it up to repark the thing. while my friend is lauhging at me. now i really looked like a jackass. im so pissed i slam it into first and pull pretty damn fast and before i can even get the key turned off i relase the clutch and slam the parking brake to the floor. well as i am doing this i am still in 1st and turning off my vehicle. so i half stall half turn it off.

Well anyway my dad picks up my mom and we go over the truck. the air filter is long in need of replacement. intake may be my first performance mod so i dont have to replace the filter and hten 2 months later get an intake. but we decide to see what i can do. not a race, just playing in the large empty parking lot.

Well as you all figured i lost. 3100lb vehicle with 130whp with a clean filter probably 120 or less with a dirty one (as dirty as this). im not going into details becase two pretty much stock trucks racing maybe 60ft isnt very interesting at all.

well i am loving the torque on this thing. when going up a hill while crusing around 2,000RPM i dont have to downshift, just put it to the floor and it will stay steady 2,000 and even accelerate a little. not the greatest for gas mileage but in my moms truck its down shift galore. the HP i am not loving. but i found this truck powerband. so far my bes pull has been 2nd gear 3,400-5,400. it redlinesat 6,000 but after mid 5,000's it creaps. below mid 3,000's the torque pulls but it not like in that area, i usually shift at 4,400-4,600.

Anyway. all girls reading this (or guys who are often passengers). DO NOT touch the drivers gear selector unless you enjoy the adkins with a little walking... :nono:

I hate when my parent turn down my radio, and i say "wth was that for" and my parents reply "cause your music sucks." Thats when i put on the rap station, and say "is this better?"

When my mom used to piss me off while in my car, I used to slam on the brakes at the last second at a redlight or stop sign..lol

Hm. I don't recall my parents doing anything like that. Sometimes my dad reminds me to put traction off before a race because I always assume it's off. I never pay it any mind. My dad goes with me alot when I street race..he's pretty into it too. He likes watching me race/watching other people race..I got him to race a few times but he didn't really care for it. Plus I don't like driving around late at night by myself. Lots of people give me shit for cruising around with my dad..but shit dude..to me it's father-son bonding. Some fathers and sons watch baseball together..me and my dad street race. :)

that's pretty horrible, dude, but i've had worse. i used to drive an 86 5.0 stang, but it was an automatic(whoever decided a 5.0 with that horrible of brakes should be an automatic needs to be shot). i was driving this older guy home from a party, he was drunk/sobering, and i was completely sober. we were approaching a stop light at the base of a short downgrade and i was applying plenty of brakes to slow down since i had been going pretty fast. the auto gears on it went: OD-D-1, and i had it in drive. well, the guy decided that i needed my rpms to help me slow down, and he said i needed to put it into second as he grabbed the stick and yanked it into first before i could do anything. well i was going somewhere between 25 and 30 when he did this, and i heard the loud bang(which always happens if you shift it into first going more than 5) and my rpms shot up. i was so pissed, i almost made him get out at the light, but his younger sister is really hot...so i didn't. people shouldn't touch things in your car. not even the radio or AC without your approval. right?

Settle down children, any alteration to your vehicle IS a modification. If you lower your tire pressure...YES, you MODIFIED your tire pressure. If you add a seat cover to your seats you MODIFIED the way your seat looks. So just leave it at that.

:eek7: I was parked on a hill front end facing up, you place the tranny in 1st to keep it from rolling. I also had my parking brake in about 1/2 way. And you are saying i dont know how to drive?

Limited5.9Cherokee
02-02-2005, 11:25 AM
no your mom is saying you dont know how to drive.
im not teaching you. Because the way I was taught is you Fully Depress the parking brake and leave the vehicle in neutral. depending on whether there is a curb or not depends on which way you turn your wheels.
Thats just me though.

CBFryman
02-02-2005, 11:33 AM
you where taught inccorect. the first step to keeping your vehicle from rolling is placing it in 1st if you are facing up hill or on level ground. reverse if you are on a down hill. You put it in 1st on the up hill incase your car beigns to roll. if it was in reverse you car would start causing more havic. same applies when facing down hill. your parking brake is there to hold the vehicle incase your tranny fails. i had mine placed about 1/2 of the way in. i was on nearly level hill, very slight incline. i am used to driving my moms truck which only needs about 1/4 to hold the vehicle even on a steep hill. i am still getting used to this truck. ive only owned it for 4 days. 2 at the time of this incident. i also didnt have the wheel turned because i was in a parking lot, not on a curb. seems like someone needs to go back to drivers ed. My mom hasnt taught me shit. the only person who has taught me was my dad. when i was 14. as of now i am just waiting for 16 to come around. my drivers ed teacher thought i was 16 or 17 taking drivers ed for insurance purposes.

You need to seriously retake your English Composition class, my friend. Jesus, there are so many errors to wade through in that post...

Anyways, when I was living in Kansas I had a friend who believed that he was driving from the passenger seat when I was cruising the streets at night. Little bastard would mess with everything on the dash and would sometimes even pull the e-brake to fuck with me.

So one day we were going pretty fast on the highway, and he was enjoying his lunch from the "safety" of his '91 Ranger behind me. I got evil and slammed the brakes as hard as possible (no antilocks!) and made him follow suit behind me, causing all of that mexican food to fly around the cabin of his truck. We pulled over and I looked a the damage: his face and shirt were covered with mexican food, and it was partially lining the bottom of the truck and the seat. Somehow his drink made it through the whole thing.

He got real pissed and tore out onto the highway after I started off and tried to overtake me, to no avail. A '91 Ranger had no chance against my '86 RX-7 (It's now my brother's).

Was there a moral to this story? How about "don't screw with other people's property." Would that work? :)

02-02-2005, 12:11 PM
If I was driving down the road and someone pulled my e-brake to "fuck with me." I'd pull over. Walk around to the passenger side door, open it, pull them out, beat the fucking shit out of them and then drive away as they lay on the ground bleeding to death. That's rule number one with me. You don't EVER fuck with my shit unless you're willing to accept an ass beating afterwards.

^ :evillol: Violent, but nice :evillol: ^

I should've thought of that before. I guess the thought that he was gonna pay for my lunch (and sometimes gas) half of those times kind of made me a bit nicer on the revenge end of the deal.

I'm going back to Manhattan for Spring Break, so maybe I'll just punch him in the face for all of that. That or I could bring my friends to "have a word with him." :evillol:

I refuse to waste any more space on this but you need to get a few facts straight. So if your still feeling happy about the compliments you get from your Drivers Ed teacher in his mid life crisis paid a little over minimum wage to make 14-15 year old fuckwits like yourself feel smart enough to think your pickup is the fastest on the black with more torque then the average car beside you in the slow lane and hold that thought just long enough for you to attempt what you think is a "Street Race" and tap your anti lock brakes while coming up on a slow moving car causing you to overcorrect the wheel and hit a parked car causing approximately $3800 worth of damage causing your insurance premium to rocket sky high so you cant afford driving your truck causing your mom to take over your payments and drive it to work with the still visible fender bender damage caused by your stupidity.
If you want to know how i really feel PM me and ill fill you in

Holy hell, I haven't even bothered to take the time and get through this entire thread. Mods, I like to keep things in here peaceful. Arguing and bickering is not my favorite thing. I like to see things settled, and granted I do some teasing here and there on my part. So I just want to add my :2cents:

Alright, Limited what in the hell gives you the right to come to the street racing forums and tell someone where to post their thread? Have you ever contributed to this forum. I haven't ever see you in here once. Everybody here has their stories to tell, and to me everyone gets along and has no problem whatsoever about what they post. Even so, we still continue to attribute to others threads regardless. Some even mention "Sorry, this has nothing to do with Street Racing, but I just wanted to share/vent". I find that O.K. We all know and get along with one another here, and contribute and compliment one anohter.

Calling him a fuckwit? Whatever it is that is lodged in your ass needs to be surgically removed, shown to you and then plugged back in to shut your hole. Grammar! You want to correct on grammar. I gaurantee you half of these stories would drive you up the wall if you were some sort of Ivy League English Professor. They are full of mis-spelled words. But nobody gives a rats ass. Truthfully, the human brain can read practically any word as long as all letters are included and the first and last letter are there correctly. Besides my point.

As for the both of you, I'm sure each state has it's own driver's ed safety rules on how to park a car, uphill, dowhill, parallel, whatever. Here in Utah, when you park up hill, apply the hand brake (or just park for autos) and turn your wheel to the left. Down hill, apply the brake, and turn to the right. That is Utah. I'm very certain that every state has their own manner of parking. Alright? Comprende? Good, I feel much better. After reading this entire thread, I just got a little furiated about how much people can just bicker over the smallest issues. Anyway, I'm done bitching the both of you out  . Late...

oh and i never claimed my truck to be fast. i said it was qucik for a stock light truck on A/T tires. And i said i liked the extra torque the v6 gievs so i dont have to down shift. and as for calling my driving skill into question, im willing to take anyone on the autoX course as long as you provide the car...
