UK recommendations

Hello all,

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now having just got back into the hobby. Loads of great advice and impressive talent to find here.

I have tried to search for this but not had a definitive answer. I've just bought an Iwata Revolution airbrush and would like a couple of questions answered by my fellow UK modellers regarding airbrushing kit.

Can anyone recommend a good compressor for this airbrush and preferably somewhere in the UK to get it. Also a brief description of the features that it should have and their purpose.

I'm also keen to find an equivalent of Windex over here - I've heard Mr. Muscle General Purpose cleaner being mentioned but not sure if this is really okay to clean my airbrush. Any ideas?

Is Windolene available in the UK?
I know of it as at least one equivalent to Windex.

I would recomend if you have the cash a Iwata Compressor

I have the Smart Jet Pro and can't recomend it enough.

The Website is not great but ring (01544 388514) and speak to Robin who is extemely helpfull in helping you select what you want.

As a matter of interest though why would you use windolene/windex would the equivalent thinner for the paint you were spraying not do the same job? for example of I spray Tamiya acrylics, I mop up the excess paint with paper towel and then shoot straight thinner through the brush till it comes out clear. Am I wrong doing it this way (wouldnt surprise me if I was).

I don't remember but it must have been from a post on this forum or another model related website.

Cheers guys, I've seen that compressor on a few sites but wasn't sure if it had all the features that I've read about. Are hoses all of the same standard? The Revolution comes with a 6ft braieded hose so will this screw straight onto the compressor or are adaptors required?

The fitting in the compressor is the large version 1/8 BSP (as shown above) from memory, but being Iwata and your brush being the same make I would think you should be fine.
If not an adaptor will cost about 4-25 UK Pounds

I just got my Smart Jet a week ago, it comes with a hose for Iwata airbrush which is same as the pic attached by Steve. Along with adaptors for Paasche and Badger airbrush.
