3rd gen

I have a stock third gen motor, its been in the car for about 4 months. The car ran great at first, but it now doesnt seem to have the same power. The turbo spools sooner then it used to, particularly on cold days and the check engine light comes on after it warms up. I dont know how to go about finding parts for it either it seems all I can do is order 95 us turbo parts and hope they fit. Anybody have a third gen who can help?

my turbo spooled faster when one of the ignition leads came loose on the cap, caused the engine to miss and dump fuel into exhaust, seems to make the turbo spool faster.

don't know about the check engine light. you can check the codes though and it'll tell you what it is. Sorry but i can't remember how. look for error codes or diagnostics, i've seen it a few places, otherwise someone may be able to tell you more...

hey TRD where do you get parts for your engine when all they have in us are second gen parts?

Sorry mate, I'm not in the US and for now i only have a 2nd gen JDM engine. Jekylandhyde will probably know... depends what parts you're after i guess.

Lack of support for that engine in the US is one of the biggest reason I do not suggest that people do 3rd gen swaps.

I have no clue where to get specific parts, but the 95 US is going to be very different on a lot of parts.
Maybe ask Dave at the MR2 Warehouse (tell him I sent you).

what about celicas..... did you get the third gen engine in a celica?

also some parts are the same as the 2jz... as i said it really depends what parts you're after??? cause Jeff's right, lots of parts are slightly different
