I want to get a 92-95 civic and go turbo (on an ex or dx engine), but if the engine has a lot of miles on it would getting it rebuilt be just as good as getting a used engine? Also, what kind of turbo would you guys get for this, how much would it cost, and how much hp could i expect when i am done (including intake, headers, exhaust)? Thanks alot.

i've got a 97 and im gonna go turbo on my D. i plan on getting a used D, and possibly rebuilding it. just to ensure that the rings and all are good and i'll probably use ARP fasteners just for good measure. as for the turbo...im not sure on the size. if you want it to spool up quick, you should use a smaller turbo. this is something more for the turbo/supercharge/n2o forum

if youre gettin a 92-95 civic your best bet in my opinion would be to get one with high miles and swap a b-series engine into there. theres a lot of places that sell them on the internet (www.jdmhondaparts.com has the best prices ive seen so far). for the turbo, i'd say go with a T3/T4 hybrid, but i couldnt tell you what kinda hp/torque figures to expect, it depends on the boost youre runnin among other things.
the best advice i think i could give you right now though is do your research, make sure you know everything there is to know about any and all work that you intend to do on this car before you commit to anything.

greddy makes a turbo for the 5th gen civic......
it comes with the turbo, exhaust manifold, intake, fuel injectors and all the other stuff needed for the installation. if you buy a ride with a high mile engine, just replace the sleaves get new piston rings and a block guard and you should be straight.
