B&M Megashifter question

I'm sorry if it's a dumb question but what exaclty does this shifter do. Does it convert the 700R4 to a semi-manually, does it improves shifting, do you need to rebuild the tranny(i'm pretty sure you do) I'm just curious, I might get one in the future when the funds get better.

The Mega shifter works just fine with the four speed auto. All it allows you to do is easily manually shift the car as opposed to trying to do so with a stock shifter. I have one in my '73 Camaro and it is awesome. No, you dont have to rebuild your tranny but if you were to it would make a huge difference. Really the Megashifter just takes more advantage of a tranny that has a shift kit installed so you can get those really positive shifts.

Thanks, 402. I think i will invest in one of those in the near future. Are they easy to install yourself? I haven't done much tranny work but i gotta start somewhere.

how much do those things run cost wise?

i think summit has a b&m megashifter for the camaro console fit for like 150 and a transgo transpack for like 100 to optimize shifting or u can just get a b&m shift kit for like 30
