My battery recently died, because my car is off the road. So i jump started it today and it all went fine until about five minuets after running the car started to idle oddly. Not high but not smooth the tach was jumping all over the place mostly between 5000 and 9000 RPM. I have a 93 turbo so it redlines at 7000 and trust me the motor didn't sound close to that, it was still idleling roughly. I turned the wheel a little and the wheels would not move but a high pitched sound came form the dash and the car stalled out. I have no idea whats wrong please help.

I would take it to Sears, they can do a "charging system" check. I *think* they do this for free.

but what about the sporadic rpm needle?

... sorry, I read over that. I read to fast.

Well there is a physical rev limit at 7250 rpms, so there is no way that you could be hitting 9000.
I have no idea on that, but it does sound like something is broke in there.

Usually "bouncing" idles in MR2s are from air in the coolant system, but they do not fluctuate at the high rpms.

I don't know, I think if it fried something the needle wouldn't move at all not just jump around all sprastic like.
