Engine won't turn over when it's wet outside

Me again. Got a quick response to my last post (this forum is fast), so I thought I'd ask one last question. When it's wet outside, or snow is on the hood and is in the process of melting, or however moisture is getting to the car, the engine won't turn over. All I'm able to do is flood the engine and I can't try again for an hour or so. My boss is getting upset with my "car troubles."

I spoke to a mechanic about this about 15 minutes ago, and he pointed out a small rectangular box to the front left of the engine. Six wires come from the box (the name escapes me) which go to each spark plug for the V6 (at least that's how I understood it when he told me.) He said that when condensation or moisture gets on this "box", the sparks can't get over to the spark plugs, and the engine can't start.

The only reason I am posting this is because the other posts regarding starting problems on this forum think that it is the alternator, starting engine, or fuel filter that may be causing the problem. I am pretty sure that he said that this thing is not the starting engine. So I just wanted your thoughts on this mechanic's opinion. Thanks!

When your car won't start when wet it is usually the ignition module, which is what your mechanic should be pointing to. Not cheap. Best to replace coils too if money not an issue to save you troubles down the road. when you say the car won't turn over I assume it is cranking, just not starting. very common on GM cars. Your coils and plug wires sit on top of the module.
