alright guys ive got a 4th gen lude and its registered at a tiop speed of 140 mph. wat would it take ( hp wise) in order to increase my maximmum mph to around 200-220. i was just watchin these cars on tv and it was all these bad ass cars with like 560hp but a registered mph top out of like 260mph. so i was just wondering

Lower your drag coefficient. When speeds are in the 200mph range, its not so much that the HP is stopping them from going faster, its the aerodynamic properties of the car.
Not to burst your bubble, but I seriously doubt you'll be hitting 200mph anytime soon.

its not that im looking to reach a specific mph, i am more or less comparing the other cars performance to mine.

well the gearing of the car has a ton to do with your top speed. a fourth gen si has a 4.27 ratio, which is really high. this means that the car will have faster accelleration, but a low top speed. the lower your ratio goes, the higher your top speed and slower your acceleration. i actually just put a 96 s tranny in my 93 si. the s tranny has a 4.06 ratio, my takeoff was slowed up a bit, but i gained 11 mph. i did it for cost effectiveness reasons (the s tranny was free), so i really could care less either way. anyhow... if you wanted to hit 200 mph, you would have to probably go down to a 2.73 ratio, and that would cost a small fortune in a custom made trans. and to boot the car would be slow as shit. it would take 10 mins to get to 200, hehe. also, signals right, aero has a lot to do with stability and ability to go that fast.

Isn't there a few pro civics hitting 190+mph?

not only would your car need the lower gears but you would need a diff motor.
these cars dont make enough low end power to get up to speeds like that. when you put diff final drive ratios you stay in each gear longer. and when your up around 140 and your in 5th gears at 2k rpm's, no offense but these engines cant pull from there.
well put it like this, my trans am has 300 ft lbs of torque at 1500 rpms, and 285 hp at the wheels. the gearsing is set at 3.43. doing the math with my tires, top speed of the car in 6th gear at 5700 rpms, (engines rev limiter) is 255mph
now my car wont even come close to 255mph because of drag and hp. its got a decent aerodynamics. but i need lots more power, somewhere around 500 whp and as much torque. to get to 240 i would need over 700whp.
im guessing because these engines only work well in the high rpms, that you would need more hp than that and also need the transmission to be rebuilt just for top speed and make sure that you are in those high rpms all the way down the street, youd prob need to go with more gears.
i was watching the fwd drag races last night. all the 4cyl cars were running turbos, making over 1000hp and not a single one has ever ran over 200 in the 1/4
not saying that they cant do it given more space but just pointing out, my friends tube chassis mustang runs over 200 in the 1/4 with 900 hp turbo motor.
