I read about some kind of VTEC chip you can install into your motor.
What is it, what does it do, and how much does it cost?

from what I understand a v-tec chip lets you initiate the v-tec sooner (lower rpms) and I think I've seen them for like 100 bucks online. Just splice it into the v-tec solenoid wire and make sure you wire an on-off switch for it because you don't want that on all the time.

From what I have read it is generally not a good idea to lower the vtec engangement signficantly. At lower rpm you canot effectivly make use of the additional fuel and air anyway it will just put more wear and tear on you motor.

Unless you have aftermarket camshafts and you are on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor, changing any VTEC or ECU settings is pointless and you will lose power.
