I am having problems getting my electric fuel pump to work. with the ignition in the start position, i have 12 vdc. in the on position i get 8 vdc for a fraction of a second the no voltage.I couldn't hear the pump operating when applying power but, when I took the pump out of the tank; it works. The wiring diagram does not show specific relays or locations. should i hand trace wire or can anyone suggest how best to resolve my problem to get the car running

Try relay swapping and see what happens. If that still doesn't work, and you manually tested the fuel pump, you could have an open circuit. Just another thought, next time you have the fuel pump out, test the resistance of the pump. If it's less than 1 ohm, your resistance is to high and can burn a motor up. If it's more than 12 ohms, that's too high and won't work and not enough amperage will flow.

Did you have to drop the fuel tank to get to your fuel pump? I think I am going to have to replace mine in an 88.

I have a 90 LeBaron and I had to drop the fuel tank to swap the fuel pump if that helps any 88 Red Baron. As for your fuel pump, Freaknasty had good suggestions!
