I drive a 1988 Chevy Silverado, 5.0L TBI Fuel Injection. Starting on wednesday, i was driving somewhere, and I came to a stop and without any warning, no signs of trouble or anything, my engine just cut out(like if someone turned off the ignition) and wouldn't start again. So I went and bought some quick start and sprayed it into the throttle body and it started up and ran fine, I got it home and shut it off and tried starting it a couple times again and it was fine, the next day it was fine until i left work and picked up my friend from work, as soon as i stopped at the gas station, the same thing happened again, and it seems to happen at random moments when i stop. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I had an 88 K1500 jimmy with the 5.7 in it with tb injection and it did the exact same thing to me once......well more than once. Most likely i am thinking if you get it scanned or jumper it to rerad the codes it will probably throw a code 12 which will be the ignition module. After i got rid of the truck (my brother bought it) it did the same thing a few times again over the years that he owned it, if i remember correctly it did it about 3 or 4 more times. The cost for a new ignition module is not that expensive ($60-90) depending on the make you get and it is fairly simple to change, a matter of approx 30 mins tops.

Just a suggestion, but when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?
