97 Ranger Towing Capicity

does anyone know roughly how much a

97 ranger
4.0 liter v6
automatic

can comfortably tow on the highway?

I have a 74 Starcraft Starmaster popup camper, and am wondering if the rangewr would do the trick, being from the 70's its a little heavy.

Two things One is what is the rating for tour truck?? such as 1/2 ton? or 3/4 ton?? It has to do with the rear springs on your truck. Second, if tour pop-up is well balanced and the tongue weight is not overly heavy you should easily be able to tow it with the v-6. Also, you should have electric brakes installed... Really helps to be able to stop it... Later Mark.

in general, a ranger will tow 4000lbs with the classII hitch wich is the largest you can get for a ranger. i have a 2000 4x4 4WD and have towed my chevelle numorus times and that and trl weigh abt 5500lbs. if you aren't going far, you can tow more weight. it's just the long trips you want to stay under 4000lbs.
