Ok whenever i play my videos it just blacks out. Why is that? Even on websites it blacks out on me. How do you fix this? I have windows xp professional if that helps. I want to get rid of it and probably get winamp.

Codecs are something you install so that the computer can read the particular filetype or format the video uses. There are tons of different formats that .avi files use for instance so you need the proper codec in order to read it.
Your Media Player may also be having issues. Try reinstalling it first. If that doesn't fix it, you're probably missing the correct codecs to read the files you're trying to play.
