hi everyone, I'm new here and I was looking at a fiero 2m6 for a next car, it has a auto tranny..... how hard would a manual swap be?.

I was thinking I would just need

column
shifter
shifter cables
brake/clutch pedal cluster
clutch line
and lastly a manual tranny..... is that everything? is it worth it?, should I go for the getrag 5?

thanks, very much

You shouldn't need a new column, but the main wire harness is not the same. The position of the reverse lighting switch is not the same. The clutch start enable switch is not the same as the automatic Park/Neutral switch. There are subtle differences in them, and to change it out requires almost complete disassembly of the interior and disconnecting some wires from the engine. If you are really wanting a manual transmission, you would be much better off to continue your search for what you want.

ok but I meant the water fall or whatever you want to call it not the steering column. ok yea I know of a fiero gt around here that I might be able to persuade the owner to sell

Give Bob at Kick Hill Farm a call (www.kickhill.com), number is on the website. Tell him what you want to do, and he'll fix you up with what you need. I know others who have done this, and were happy with the results.

I'm also doing the swap, but mine is going to be a frame up swap...I didn't realize how hard it was going to be untill I saw the harness was different. And trust me, those wires snake all around the car. They aren't easy to remove, so if your car currently runs and drives fine....you may be better off selling it and getting one that you like.

BTW, what's a water fall?

heres an email i got:

Along with dropping the engine/trans/cradle (which you are doing), the following will have to be changed or added.

Pedal assembly, steering column, shifter console, shifter, shifting cables, clutch hydraulic line, clutch master cyl, clutch slave cyl (to match trans used), flywheel (neutral balance on the 3.4), clutch assembly (to match trans used), manual engine wiring harness, repin 1 wire in C-500, modify cabin wiring for clutch pedal neutral safety switch and cruise kick off switch, pair of axles, water crossover pipe, and finally the transaxle with all brackets. The auto ECM can run the engine, but for emissions it may take one for a manual.

Hope this helps.

For all the money and work just go buy an engineless 4/5 speed and swap engine into it.

kick hill sells most of the stuff to swap it, just need a transaxle itself.
