97 Monte Carlo Problems With the radio

I am having problems with the factory radio in my 97 MOnte Carlo. It plays soft, gets really loud, then quits working all together. I thought it was a problem with the head unit and bought a replacement and it has the same issues.

you have a short some where like i did I just rewired everything
