Hi Guys,
Just a quik query here:
I've painted my 206 in aluminium grey metallic (from Halfords) and it's been left for a week to dry so I'm now ready to apply 3-4 coats of Halfords Clear Laquer, then leave for 12 days and then polish/wax. What I'm wondering is:
Should I instal the headlights before or after Clear Laquer?
I only ask because after I've added 3-4 coats of laquer, the space for the headlights to go will be smaller due to the amount of clear coats.
Thanx chaps

I used Halfords clear coat over clear plastic and it turned it a white colour, I don't know if this is regular, or a one off.

Don't clearcoat over clear plastic.

You can clear-coat over clear parts. It's a common practice among the 1/43 resin builders to fill the gaps between the windshield or headlight covers and their frames. But this works only if you know how to polish the clear coat to the mirror-like surface. Also, some brands turn yellowish over time, so choosing the right brand is important, too. Because of this, many people prefer 2 part urethane clear. Also I'm sure GSI Creos' new product called UV Cut Clear spray will work, too.
I've never used Halfords, so I can't predict what would happen, but if it's known to stay clear over time, I think you can use it.
