'05 Wrangler Q&A please

I'm considering leasing an '05 Wrangler SE 6spd as my wifes and my 3rd vehicle. I really want to throw some 32x12.5x15 baja belted Mickey Thompsons on it. Their website recommends a 2.5" lift for these wheels and tires.

I can't seem to find a website that sells a lift for anything greater than an 03??? Could someone please point me in the correct direction.

Also, How do you guys think the 4cyl will handle this big of a tire? Do I really need a lift? I don't mind some rubbing, but I don't want the jeep to look silly.

Lastly, does anyone have an experience with doing these slight modifications on a leased vehicle? I'm thinking I shoudl really get the speedo fixed so the mileage is correct...

Thoughts, concerns, info, all greatly appreciated.

The tire is a bit big for the 4cyl IMO; my wife and I have an '04 4cyl; the stock tires are 215/75R15 and while not a dog, you can tell it's working.

Since you're going with a lease, you may want to consider a Sport or X model; though a bit more expensive, you can get it with 30" tires from the factory, and not have to worry about modifications affecting your lease.

I would recommend the X model. Its the lowest 4.0L model. I have a 2.5L im putting 33's on, but to push it Ive had to work on the engine to add power. If your looking for a good budget lift, look at add-a-leaf systems. Usually you can lift it for less than 100 bucks. It's just going to be a rougher ride. Another good thing is it's easy to install yourself. Mako makes the lift I have. Its a store on ebay. I bought a 3" lift for 80 bucks.

Thanks for the info guys, I ended up getting the X model. My wife and I our going to save up for some Mickey Thompson Baja Belted 31x11.5x15 tires and some Mickey Thompson 15" classic Wheels II. I'm hoping I can get away with this with out a lift.

Thanks for looking out.

Hopefully the 31's will fit w/o a problem! Let us know how it works out. Congrats on your new Jeep; enjoy!

Oh yeah, and check out the following website:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

The calculator figures out your % size in tire change (and therefore speedo error). With the bigger tires you'll be going faster than your speedo shows.

Are you planning to hold onto the stock tires to reinstall at the end of the lease?

yeah I'm gonna hold on to the stock set so I can return it as I found it. Probably will sell the wheel tire package I'm gonna get at the end of the lease.

You shouldnt have any problem at all fitting 31s on your X. I just got a 04 X Rocky Mountain Edition and mine came with 30s stock....and there is definately more room for one more inch. If I am not mistaken, the Rubicon and the X have the same suspension height, and I believe the Rubicon has stock 31s on it. I think that when you get to like 32 or 33 thats when you might get some rubbing.

youll rub on 31s at full lock both ways not enough to worry, but id get the 4.0 if you dont youll get tired of having no power, and youll start looking for a 4.0 to replace it
but tell me this.....where u gettin a 6 spd???

05+ manuals are 6spd's. I ended up getting the 4.0 and enjoy it very much. However, 6th gear is worthless as I ahve to down shift to maintain my speed up hills on the interstate doing 80.

Did some nice 4x4 driving this weekend. Gotta love a jeep. My friend took his 4x4 F150 out and he couldn't go where I could cuz of his long wheelbase.
