I want to build a system for my wifes 4-runner. I need recommendations on 6.5 components, a 12'' sub and amp or amps to power these. I'm willing to shop ebay for best prices. I'm willing to pay up to 150 for the sub, custom build the box, 250 for the amp, and 150 for the componants. Please help me build this. Your suggestions are much needed to help with my anniversary gift!

A lot will recommend Adire Koda 6.5's, but they'll be on backorder. I think there are some other great companies that make 6.5's as well, but I can't think of them off the top of my head, I'm not that informed on component and midbass drivers. The 12" I'd say Ascendant Audio Atlas 12", RE SE 12", or Adire Brahma 12" or Tempest 15". I would say ED NiNE.1 for $350, but that's over your budget, and so that would disqualify most of the subs I listed. I think the Asc Atlas could do away with an ED NiNE.2, same with the Tempest. Maybe a HiFonics amp too would be in your price range.

Which hifonics amp would you recommend. I'm considering the zeus zx 6400. Would it push my 4 highs and a 12'' sub ok? Also are these amps much better than alpine, rockford, etc. I may also be able to get a arc sub for a resonable price. Are these very good?
Thanks

Do this........ Get an atlas 12 from Ascendant Audio and seal it at 1.5 cubes. (wire for .33 QTS.....look on their site for the info on this www.ascendantaudio.com) Then pick up a profile ca600 cl600 or ap600 for the power. That will give you a little extra money for an amp for components. For components get some CDT Ef-61 off of djdilliodon (that's his AIM s/n he's a dealer for CDT) Talk to him about an amp to power it because he also sells some amps...... if he doesn't have anything in your price range ask him to reccomend something for your price range.....he's the component god.

Are the profile amps good? They seem so cheap for the wattage it makes me wonder. Are they better than most of the mainstream amps. I don't mind budgeting more to get good quality. I want to get a good, accurate sound that can handle a little volume.

They're known to put out a clean signal and push their rated wattage. Not the best in the world, but it's a little more than what you're paying for; unlike audiobahn and likewise other companies on that level.

They don't have all the features in the world and all but they are a good budget amp..... like if you've ever heard of hifonics....these are in the same class as like a brutus line, just a calss a/b that doesn't put out a gazillion watts. I've installed prolly around 10 ca600's mostly on tempests and shivas and never had a problem with one.

I'm getting this set up for my wife who listens mostly to rock, and some R&B. I want the system to be accurate and fairly loud. How do I contact djdilliodon?

On the profile amps, are there any differences between the ca600 cl600 and ap600 other than looks? Also do think one of these would be the way to go to power front componants and the rears?
Thanks again for all your help!

I'd get a little better quality to power your speakers...... and the ca and ap 600 I believe are the same amp just ca is pre 2004 and ap is current......cl line is supposedly their best line.... I have a friend who has people get those instead of the ca and they work great......but I've never had a problem with ca600's and I've installed over 10 of them. And yea the Atlas will be great for your wife's music likes.

I found djdilliodon and emailed him about the componants. I'm still triing the locate the atlas sub as cheap as possible. What do you recommend to power the highs. I'm triing to learn as much as possible about this. The only stuff that I've really known about is what you get at best buy.

OK I've narrowed it down. Please help me pick. For about the same price I can get a jl 12w3, atlas 12, arc 12 d4. Which one? Also I think I'll get the componants from djdilliodon. I'm still triing to figure out which amp to get for the high end. I can a jl 300/4 for about 200 on ebay. Do you have any better recommondations?

I'd go for the Atlas.

The atlas should out perform all of those subs in sound quality and SPL..... and off less watts at that. What components are you goin w/ the EF-61's? I'm assuming your gunna have rear fill? jl amps are nice I've got a lot of ecperience with the 300/2's on comps..... sound very nice.

I'm going to have rears, but I haven't even thought much about that yet. I was considering going with a jl 300/4 for the highs, but they're still running for about 200 on ebay used. What would you get? Should I go 4 channel or brigde a 2 channel amp for all 4 speakers. Also would you go for a profile cl800 for the sub over the cl600? They are very close in price, only about 20-30 bucks difference. I can also get an avionixx 400.4 cheap on ebay. Let me know I'm still narrowing it down.

DO NOT BRIDGE A 4 CHANNEL AMP FOR THE MIDS AND HIGHS. You'll loose your fader or balence controls and such. Basically you'll lose the idea for having a 4 channel amp.
