What would be the symptoms of failing upper or lower engine mounts? Would I hear any unusual sounds when torque-braking?

Normally a broken or damaged motor mount will create a vibration or clunking sound.

Also with the hood opened, give it a little gas (with brake applied) motor will "drop".

I'll take a look tomorrow and see what I find. If the upper mounts are failing I think I'll go with the MSP polyurethane mounts on 3800performance.com. Thoughts??
Also, do the upper mounts fail quicker than the lower?

Well it took 6 years for the stock ones to give out. Why pay what three time the amount for MSP's? Won't make the car go any faster.

So you think I should just stick with the stock mounts? I thought the MSPs would provide a little better support.

Well, the lower mounts are shot. Having them replaced today. May do the upper mounts as well since the upper mounts take pressure off the lower.

supposedly the MSP polyurethane uppermotor mounts bring more torque because less is lost through engine movement, but i dont know i have no personal experience with hem
