does anyone know what the difference is between the K&N FIPK GEN II air intake, and the K&N 77 one that comes in polished aluminium?????? I see they are almost the same price, but I don't know is there a better air flow in one of them or is it one is plastic tubing and the other is polished aluminium? Can somebody help?

Really no difference besides looks. I really like the polished look. Helps clean up the rather bland looking undercarriage we have.

i know u are talkin bout k&n but i have the AEM brute force intake-massive 4" polished aluminum looks beautiful and much better throttle response. Sounds sweet too. just my $.02 :)

Its a toss up on whats might be better. the aluminum might pickup and hold the heat from your engine which would negate the cold air intake idea alltogether. I have the black plastick gen II, i love it and cared more for function of it then the looks. besides its just one more opiece i would have to polish and im lazy...JJ

yea, thats one reason why i got the plastic K&N, I figured the aluminum tube would hold some heat and kinda defeat the purpose of cold air. Now im not sure if this is true or not, but that was just my thinking... Also I dont have to polish the tube.

while were sort of on the subject.... how often should I clean my filter on my FIPK ? I havent done it yet, but im just wonderin if its time. ill have to go back to some of my pervious posts to rembere when i put it in, im an idiot.

i think the book that came with my cleaning kit says every six months and i seem to remember it saying the dirtier it gets the better it cleans the air. but i would do it sooner. i put mine in in july as well and i havent touched mine either. By the way dont over oil it when you do and let it dry for 24 hours atleast like the book says or you will fry your maf sensor, 400.00 bucks...JJ

I'm with innocent5.3. Go with the AEM Brute Force. I have one and love it.
