93 S15 Jimmy 4.3L V6 w/ CPI

I am removing the upper air intake plenum to get to the CPI unit for replacement. I am following an older Haynes Manual and it informs me to remove the Cruise Control cable (done), accelerator cable (done), and the TV cable - I CAN'T FIND A TV CABLE attached! I see where it should be on the lever that the accelerator and CRuise control cabler are connect to, but there is no sign of this cable hanging around. This Haynes book has had some inconsistencies such as this that I chalked off to the generic and old ambiguity of the manual that accomodates several engine types for GMC.

Can anyone tell me if I should have this cable?

A mechanic diagnosed the CPI unit w/ convincing confidence so I am trying to do it myself. But if this cable could have something to do w/ the problem (choking, hesitation, not accelerating) then I would like to know before I remove the plenum and CPI.

Thanks for your time/wisdom!

You don't have a TV cable as you have a 93. From 93 to current the 4l60e was used. This is the electronic version of the 700r4 that was used till 92. So the kickdown is computer controlled for 93 up and manually controlled for 92 and below. Therefor no TV cable on your truck.

rlith - you are good, thanx! Haynes manual is way off then, because it focues on early 90s.
seems like the 90s were nothing but experimenting for GMC engines!

tomorrow i'll continue w/ removing intake plenum and CPI....
