problems with short throw shifter?

I'm ordering a new WRX, and after reading a bunch of reviews, opted for (among other things) the 17 inch wheels and the short throw shifter. My dealer says that of all the folks that they have put them on for, about 80% complai they don't like them. Anyone have any experience with them?

I believe there were some post of people losing a gear, try reading some other posts.

I have 17 inch wheels and a short throw shifter and the shifter works great and the tires are a big improvement over the stock tires...
