Recently my car has been slipping a little between gear shifts when I don't warm the car up but after about a block or so the problem usually goes away... I live in los angeles and was driving to school on the 710 when i needed to change lanes, I gave the car a little gas and nothing the car seemed to be stuck in neutral.
Currently i can shift in to any gear including reverse and OD but only reverse has any power to it, all the others just give the slightest of pushes. Any ideas on what i can do? my explorer is an automatic, the transmission fluid is fine not burnt in the least. Before i get stuck with rebuilding it or installing a new tranny could you give me some advice..
Thanks in advance.

i agree w you flattire. Now i do not own a ford nor will i ever i hate them but my dad owns one a 91 and has had to replace the tranny twice goes every other year so next year it should go again something about the flywheel goes for a spin and takes the rest down with it.

Sounds like the torque converter is not locking up properly. Also Fords have problems with the valve bodies in the transmissions. Try putting some LUCAS transmission stabilizer in and see what happens. It fixed mine when some valves were sticking and it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear until like 2500 rpm. Did it 10,000 miles or so ago and haven't had a problem since. It lubricates everything and stops stuff from sticking. When was the last time you changed the transmission fluid? Good Luck with it.
