I just bought a 2005 Hyundai Elantra yesterday. It has only 120 miles on it. I went shopping today and when I started my car a warning light came on and stayed on. Looked in the owner's manual and the light is the Malfunction Indicator Light---any ideas about what could cause this? I have had the car less than 24 hours!!!!

My advice would simply be to call the dealership and ask them or go visit them.

This happened to my wife within two weeks of owning the vehicle and all it turned out to be was that the gas cap was not turned all the way. They told us that you need to make sure you hear at least three clicks with you tighten the gas cap. I'm not sure if that is true, but the light has not come on since in 3.5 years of driving.
