Appearences can be deceiving...

Down a couple streets from where I live is this corner store operated by a Chinese family, and recently I noticed there was this really beat-up, POS-looking Camaro third-gen sitting in the lot. I was in their last night and asked the guy about it. He said it was his newphews, and even though it looks like garbage (the back left is all mangled, there's about 6 different colors on it, tape, etc.), his nephew is making it into a show car and there's already 40 grand under the hood, plus another 5-10 grand in rims which haven't been installed, a huge system, speakers, interior, etc...He said it's either an 86 or an 87, I think it's an 87.

That is ONE HELL OF A LOT OF MONEY to put into an engine.

I would bet more like 4k under the hood unless all of the engine hardware is gold plated. Look at it realistically, a 40k engine is in the NASCAR price range. So, unless he is a moron that likes over paying for everything...4k.
All of that money for parts and the body loks like crap still? That's about a bassackwards way to do it. 5-10k for rims..doubtful, unless they are custom 22 inchers with the rubber on them too..and a huge sound system for a shitbox car...he must be a moron.
Maybe he SHOULD have used the money for an education, that way he'd know when he was being foolish.
