I have a 1988 535ise, the first of the E34 models and there is a problem with the A/Con. the drivers vents blow continually hot regardless of the setup; this is a right hand drive variant. The blower does divert to the feet when the heat is turned up but when it is put back to cold it diverts back to the face and blows hot. the other vents are blowing cold except the driver. can anyone help?
cheers

if hot air is coming out of the 'center' vents [foot well and windscreen temps are okay, the likely most likely cause is a broken stepper motor mounting for the stratifed air door, second would be a failed control unit. At least I think so, but will think further and repost if ness...........

Greetings Bill,
I saw your message and wondered if your 535i has a problem with the heater as well? You see I have a 92 525i and the heater takes forever to heat up, I mean I could freeze by the time this thing warms up. Any suggestions?

Hi "Zelda", Recommend you replace the thermostat first, they break and 'stick' open which causes very slow warm-up and lack of heat. Be SURE to use the factory recommended 92'C replacement.
