'98 Jetta engine starter disable circuit

My daughter's '98 Jetta stall while driving and it won't start. I know she was having some erratic problems with the factory alarm system. I also note on the forum that the alarm system is prone to causing stalling and starting problems. What I need to know is does the anti-theft engine disable cut out the ignition or the fuel pump. A failed fuel pump would also cause the same problem she is experincing- I guess a failed ignition module would also. It would help toubleshooting if I could eliminate a possible alarm fault. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I live in northern Indiana and working outside, saving time means saving my extremeties from frostbite.

The alsrm/anti-theft system will not cause the car to stall. It can prevent the starter from engaging. I wouild look for engine codes first.
