Hello, I have a 94 gmc sonoma, it spat out the coolant near the coil packs on the pass side of engine. Is there a freeze plug or similar device close to this area? This is where the fluid is leaking, yet I cannot pinpoint the actual location. There is what appears to be a 1 1/2" dia boss cast into the block with what seems to be a plug, can anyone help? I cannot find this leak and it is severe

Yip, sounds like a frost plug.

I've got a '94 Sonoma with 2.2 also.
It is leaking badly from the plug on the driver's side, just in front of the engine mount. The one behind the exhaust manifold and at the back of the engine both looked OK. I found it makes life really nice if you remove the tire and fender well, it gives a really clear shot to everything.
I haven't even started on the passenger side of the block, where are those plugs hiding? There's quite a tangle of stuff in the way. I'll be able to poke around better with the fender well removed.
Any suggestions for flushing the system out, it was ignored for a while and has a lot of rust. I'm going to change the upper and lower hoses as well as the water pump while it is all apart.
