hey.
been quite a while since i built anything but i'm currently staring at four kits, all from revell.
they're all ones that i want to put together but well, i can't do all four at once so, any suggestions on what order to do them?
bugatti EB110
ferrari 365 GT/4 daytone
jaguar XK-SS
BMW 507
and what colours?
you might remember that i have a thing for red cars but i was in my model shop yesterday and in halfords today looking at all of the other colours available.
silver (i'v never done a metallic)/metallic brown -bronze (i saw one at a show this colour)/something else bugatti?
red/dark blue/yellow ferrari?
british racing green/black/something else jaguar?
red/black/silver/something else BMW?
all suggestions welcome.
cheers.

Well, I can't give you any specific directions, but try this:
Order the models based on how much you like them. Start with your least favorite, and work up to your most favorite. That way, you get to re-hone your skills on less meaningful models and when you get to your favorite one, you are on top of your game and can do the best job possible on your favorite model!
Does that make any sense? :screwy: :iceslolan

Paint it whichever color you would like, it is, after all, your model.

some pics of what's been done so far....
i have absolutely no patience what-so-ever so i've done my usual rushing through the build.
a few errors both from the kit and from myself which you might see.

body has been sanded and first coat of primer has gone on.
dash has been put together and given a coat of flat black with a touch of blue added to it.
get more pics when i'm done.
i'll also post pics of the other cars here when they've been re-painted.

You built and painted that very quickly!
Looking good. It's always great to see another Daytona on AF :D
What have you chosen for the body color?

at the moment i'm leaning towards a deep blue colour.
also quite tempted to give it some sparkle.
would giving it a base coat of silver then blue on top give much of a result?

just a quick update.
pics tomorrow as i missed the daylight today.....
body of the daytona has had a first coat of blue applied.
chassis/interior has been completed.
the other three kits have been put on the shelf cos some new found confidence has led me into attempting to repaint the bodies of some older kits that i've always hated the look of.....

finally got some pics done.
body still hasn't been finished.
waiting for the final coat to gas out.....
in the mean time, i've almost finished an old favourite of mine.

interior of the daytona.
just a note, i've recently gotten hold of the italeri kit of the same car and i can confirm that it is the same kit except with different decals.
the italeri kit has finer chrome on the wheels and is a bit tidier but apart from that, it's the same.

engine isn't great and i've been toying with the idea of slipping in an engine from the testarossa kit as they look practically the same bar the carbs....
thing is, everytime i look at the old revell kits, i'm sure they're not 1/24, despite what it says on the box.
anyone provide me with a bit more info?

in hindsight, this might've been a bad decision....

as you can (almost) see, i've started to remodel the rear space of the interior for the engine and stuff.

at the moment it's a partially scratch built V8, diff/drive behind the block, gearbox ahead.
if you look at the last pic above, you'll see a big thing intruding into the cockpit.
that's where the gearbox goes to, the idea being that the gearshift stick goes directly into the gearbox as it does on the LP400.
i've got partially built tube frame for the chassis but i'm having trouble getting it to flex without pinging itself to pieces so i'm heavily stripping away at the original chassis base from the kit.
at the moment, the rear suspension is hashed together from the tamiya porsche carrera (GT3 actually, y'know, the 'extra' parts)
front is a hash of the original.
what went wrong with the original chassis was that i tried to get working arms and springs and all that.
the only thing was because i'm using quite small guage wire and every time i heat up one section of wire for soldering, another bit of wire nearby would've come off....
still would like to get working suspension so i've been looking at getting plastic rods and tubes and seeing what i can do with extra careful plastic weld application.
i'm actually very pleased that fujimi are re-releasing the vitz kit with proper yaris badges cos it means i can afford to bodge this one up and put it down to play-testing.
