Accident

I kinda got into an accident and my poor baby is probably ruined. I managed to actually take out a phone pole and skid halfway through someone's yard while in an uncontrolled spin. My car hit the pole on the passenger side front wheel well. That might sound minor but it was pretty bad, I was lucky to be able to walk away on my own two legs. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on how to proceed. I don't have collision so I am pretty much screwed but if anyone can make any suggestions I would be extremely grateful.

I hate to say it but it sounds like you are SOL. What were you thinking man. You should have gotten coverage for stuff like this. Post some pics of the damage. Maybe we can part it back together if its minor enough

ahh man, that's bad news indeed ): I really feel for you - especially after what happened with the 0-ring thing too - hasn't really been your week at all ):

but yea as stated above - depending on how bad it's knocked up - perhaps it's possible to fix? post some pics if you can.

if it can't be fixed - part it out... use the wtb section of honda-tech.com and see what you can sell.... then start over.

The place that towed my car also has a body shop. They are going to give me an estimate on Monday but I can say with a fair amount of certainty that it is totalled. I cut the telephone pole in half and the officer that grilled me believes I was going 60 minimum but he was inclined to think I was going 70. I'll try to pay my car a visit soon so that I can assess the damage myself and get pics up.

I'll have pics on Monday. The impound portion of the shop isn't open until then. Yes, I did watch Spiderman but some lessons don't really hit home until your actions go awry which is what happened in the movie. I let some guy tic me off and I ended up paying for it. It won't be happening again.

i dunno man, it sounds bad. if you sliced that pole with your wheel well at an angle which you probably did (you were probably drifting sideways after a sharp turn where you lost control due to understeer and fwd-ness), your car took some seious damage. you kinda are hitting the car in a weak spot right there. depending on the angle, you could've jammed the body around the tranny mount, probably bent your frame if you kept going. i dunno man, it doesn't sound good. post some pics and let us see

I went to the body shop today and gave them the okay to take the prelude to the junkyard. I did salvage a few things but I left alot of stuff. Too bad I don't know any car thieves that could have easilly stripped the car for me.

This is the exterior damage to the car.

This is the engine which probably came through it all without a problem. I decided to not fix the car because the frame was pretty mangled and the results of repairs were questionable. The car probably would never have been the same. I have also been pressed for time because of my schedule so I opted to buy a new car (not new new, just a used car). I want to extend my thanks to everyone on this board that has helped me with my various issues. You guys are great.

are you getting another lude? or whadya thinkin for new wheels?

too bad you didn't want to part the car out yourself - you prob could have made some money - looks like a lot of good stuff is left intact. but i imagine you decided to junkyard it for insurance purposes.

I turned traitor and have gone over to a Stealth. I have always dreamed of owning a 3000GT and the Stealth is probably the closest I will get to one. I managed to get a 95 SL from a dealer. They have been incredibly nice and are even giving me a current inspection and replacing a coolant sensor and the valve cover gasket for the car at no extra cost to me. The car seemed to be in good shape and the 3000GT/Stealth fan base is huge so I am confident that I can tackle any problems that might develop. I don't think I could stay with a lude after this accident.

That was not a H22, it was the H23. I would have definitely found some way to keep the engine with me if it was the H22.
