Hey im buying a b16a2 along with eagle h-beam rods and forged pistons. How much boost or HP can the stock sleeves handle? Will i be able to break 300hp safely? I'll be running a Garrett T3 63 a/r 60 trim.

Thanks

I believe the stock sleeves are good for about 350hp. I'd still get them replaced with some stronger ones though.

You believe that?

Your motor will hold as much boost as it can take. I have seen motors run fine, on stock internals, on 11psi. I have seen others spin bearings, or throw a rod running only 8psi. Again that is with stock internals. I don't know many people around here, who would go through the trouble of upgrading rods and pistons, and skimp out on sleaves.

300whp is more of an ideal range. i am more concerned with the pistons and rods at this point. my old b16a2@12 psi for a little over two years which we just gave a compression and leakdown a few days ago shows 2 cylinders are a tad weak. not life threatning, but, seems like even with the hondata, high boost levels slowly taking its toll on the internals. i suspect ringlands or cracking pistons to be the cause. ive seen plenty of guys break into the 300hp club with stock sleeves. i personally would try to break into it myself with the right tuning. sleeves would be nice to have. just because someone else has broken into the 300whp club on stock sleeves and tuning, will not mean you will without breaking something. boost is boost. doing things the right way the first time will largely decrease the chances of you popping something.

but like i said before, if it was me, ill aim for the 300whp club on stock sleeves with the right tuning.

My B18B sees 14 psi from a 57 trim every day. Stock internals re-ringed, all new bearings, gaskets, oil and water pump, ARP head studs and rod bolts. I've seen over 500 WHP on stock sleeves countless times. Stock honda sleeves are very strong, it's detonation that kills them.
