testing waters here. but i know a few regs on here have had bikes.
im thinking about buying a lower powered yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki, honda bike. but im just curious what some of your beginer bikes where and how well they worked for you. i just want to get the feel for what im looking for. i posted in the motorcycles forum, but i know its a little slow, and i know from experience that this is a more "traveled" forum. plus i know some of you from the past a little bit...anyway, thanks for your help, sorry for posting completely off topic.

i myself don't know squat about bikes but i've heard many start off with the smaller honda's and then move up to something bigger (like a gsxr 750)... finally, when you can handle 1000cc bikes the yamaha R1 and suzuki hayabusa comes to mind.
edit: sorry i think the hayabusa has a bigger displacement... something like 12 or 13 hundred?

Yea start with a 600. Then when you want to go faster, upgrade it. But I would get an exhaust just for the sound.hahhaha I know a guy who has a pretty worked CBR600 F2 and it keeps up with 1000s in town. But he has absolutely shit on top end (140mph+).
I love the new GSX-R600. I sat on one and it fit me perfectly.

hahah your just like my sister. . .shes looking for a bike right now, we've been to many dealers and they have the "wtf" look in their face everytime my sister says its for her (they think its for me) but yea, right now shes thinking of the suzuki500 (dont know the exact names) everydealer says its a good starter bike. . .then later on they can move on to the yamaha R6, but for her size they have to get softer springs and maybe shave the seats

r6 is plenty more than you'll ever need. Im assuming you weigh 110 give or take 5 pounds(i weigh 120, yes im a light weight but i eat like im at a japanese hot dog eating contest) i cant gain weight. Iv ridden one once, and have to say my arms shook for like a half-hour after i got off it cuz i was scared lol but id ride one again, but never own one. I got up to 60 so fast in my neighborhood(i swear i was only 2 houses down from mine when i hit 60), i was like holy fucking cow thats some power. My adrenaline was pumping hard!!!!! first time iv ever ridden a bike....and probably the last time lol, it just seems like certain death to me, i dont trust my self on one, id get outta hand if i had one and end up killing myself. I prefer 4 wheels. All my friends are in to that shit, they all got r1's though with mods and lowering kits and what not. Im just like "you guys are crazy". 2 of my friends have died on bikes though, sad to say. They crash trying to do stupid shit, im sure you've all seen some video's of bike wrecks. They think there street fighters or someshit lol....well they can pull off some cool shit, but it only takes that one time and your done. Atleast a car has a body to protect you.

damn hayabusa turbo... that bike can kick some ass.

Yeah, I got a video of a guy doing 320kmh on it, so that's about 190mph.

Yea in the vid section, theres a chevy 1500 with a 2500 hd engine, turbochargered, crazy fast was beating turbo integras, mustangs, anything it came up against, he smoked them. The only thing that kept up with them is the cbr600rr. You can find it, Its called "ultimate sleeper video", or ultimate sleeper truck, you get the idea. Also, a lot of people that own bikes say to start on something smaller then a 600. 600 is still enough power to get you hurt easily. Plus, if its your first bike you dont want to dump it or drop it, lay it over in the driveway or something. Fairing for the bikes are very expensive, and paint is quite a bit too. Well just letting you know because I used to be on a motorcycle forum lol.

Not once did I hear the words Ducati 999R be typed? I would take a Ducati 999R over a haybusa anyday...Hayabusa may be fast but what...like only 10 MPH faster then the Ducati 999R..the Ducati Handles better and has the sexiest body on it...I actually think a Ducati 999R could actually hang with the Hayabusa. Ducati owns all the Motorcycle circuits.

Eh, if I was comfortable going fast on two wheels, I would take a Kawasaki ZX 1000.

There is a deallership near me that sells 999r, hayabusa and some other nice bikes. I asked them of a nice handling slow begginer bike, they showed me suzuki gsxr 600, so i guess it good.
Bikes are fun, but I will never get one.
1. I saw a guy hit a car, flew into a pole. When paramedics picked him up he was like jelly, all his bones were broken and the skull was cracked.
2. I am scared of open vihicles (4wheelers, bikes) after I went 60+ on an off road 4wheeler and it started loosing contoll.
3. I snapped my arm mountain biking (hit a tree lol) my bones came out, now have 3 2" scars on my arm after having rods inserted in both of my bones in my left arm. (radius and the one next to it).

The Ducati Company is equivalent to Ferrari in motorcycles. If you are sponsored by Ducati in Professional Racing they send you an Engine...If you open the engine or break one of the bonding wires... Ducati cuts your sponsorship right there on the spot...and you can say bye bye to Ducati Engines.

Actually Aprilia would be the Ferrari of motorcycles, Ducati is simply the Posche. Start off on any 600cc bike. It's plenty of power. If you ever feel comfortable riding fast on it then stop riding. It's a very common rule with riders. All 600cc are running in the 11's and 10's in the 1/4 mile, so they are plenty fast. You should always be afriad of the bike. When you learn to control the bike in all situations then you can step up. The Hayabusa is a 1,300cc and great in a straight line but heavy around turns. When you are going over 100mph on that it basically takes over for you. You can let go of the bars and hit a bump and you will be fine. Those things are solid and very stable at high speeds. And the Hayabusa runs a 9.89 1/4 mile stock.

My boss owns a 550cc Nighthawk. Shit it runs a 12.4 in the quarter according to the brochure. I rode it and I will say it is pretty fast. Not as fast as the CBR600, but I was just scared of the CBR. I'm so not comfortable on bikes.

ahhh yes aprilla i totally forgot about them. Aprilla's are sexy. But im to affraid of the two wheel thing. Jet skis are a different story cuz lets face it, when you fall you hit water....though it does hurt at times. I know jet ski's dont have wheels but there the equivalent to motorcycles on water(But definantly not as fast) Although 80 mph on the water seems like your going hyper speed. Then you hit the 2-3 foot wake wave go 5ft in the air...bail off and hit the water and have some nice bruises to show off. Its fun as hell though...i had a 1 seater....YES a 1 seater. Max wieght was 210 lbs at a time. THing was a dream and could get huge air. I only weigh 120 lbs now...i had it like 5 years ago....you can only imagine. i road that thing like a mad man. Im surprised i didnt get hurt.

I kinda have the same taste in bikes as I do cars: Japanese. Kawasaki ZX600s sound so freakin badass when they wind out. Just like an F1.

That is sexy. I have a couple dirt bikes. I lost control off a jump once and when I hit the ground I accidently pulled the throttle and ran into a wall. I hit my head and shoulder, bent the forks on my bike, and broke my toe. Other than that I was fine...figure that out.
I even went on to ride more with a broken toe, it hurt really bad though.
