Alternator Q?

my alternator just went and i need a new one. i was currently shopping for a sound system and was thinking of getting a new alternator anyways for higher amperage. what amperage rating am i looking for? 70+??? also what kind of battery.

I would guess....since your planning on dropping in a system thats going to be bad enough to need a new alternator you should look into a 135 amp alternator. If your not planning on dropping in a serious system then you should be alright with a good power cap. Ive had many systems and only changed an alternator to a "high performance" one, 1 time. All the rest of the times a power cap was more then enough to take care of the power issue.

Caps are useless wastes of money. To sum up what a cap is- A small, very small, very expensive battery. Thats it. If you feel your electrical system is not up to par Upgrade. Upgrade your battery, you wiring (BIG 3) and if you need it alternator
