Ok...i am getting the code reading 23 for my knock sensor on my 93 si......how important is this to fix and could it cause me to fail emissions testing?

it's a bitch to fix and it could very well cause you you to fail emissions. however, it is really rare for a knock sensor to just fail. but it's easily broken if someone who worked on your engine in that area accidentally broke it. and i would guess whoever that was didnt' even realize it. not sayin that's what happened, but i wouldn't knock it out of contention. how's your car driving? any hesitation under hard throttle?

Yes it will cause your car to fail emission testing if the MIL (malfunction indicator light or check engine light) is on and its very important that you fix this thing soon. Make sure yor knock sensor is not installed too tight or it will become so sensitive. That means it will send false engine detonations signal to your ECU. That signal causes ecu to retard the timing. Retarded timing causes rich Air/Fuel ratio. and rich Air/Fuel ratio causes high HC (hydro carbon) and CO (carbon monoxide) readings, therefore it causes failure on emission testing and damage your catalytic converter.

too tight will make it more sensitive?
that's the biggest load of bullshit i have ever heard!!!
if it's loose, vibration will cause it to go off... but if you installed it loosely enough to vibrate, the sucker will fall out.
tighten to factory specs, or 25-35in/lbs (normal non structural bolt tension)

I think this clown named drift need some help. he said he never heard of an overtightened knock sensor. anyone out there want to help drift and explain him what an overtightened knock sensor could cause.

but i dont see him as knowledgeable cus he said he never heard of an overtightened knock sensors. he could have google it first to upgrade his knowleadge before he made some comments.

Boytiti, you are the "Automotive Forum Certified Dipshit" for posting that link to your stupid website. Didn't a mod ask you not to post that link a long time ago? Then you answer him with "I really don't know what you're talking about", then you ignore him...what a dork!
